A 17-year-old boy has been found dead in a car park under ‘unexplained circumstances’.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed a 999 call was made at around 1.45am this morning with reports of the concern for the welfare of a boy in a car park near Queen Street in Devon.

The 17-year-old, from the Cullompton area, was taken to hospital by an ambulance and was later confirmed dead.

Police have said his next of kin have been informed.

A 16-year-old female, 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old male have all been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

They remain in police custody at this time and are awaiting questioning today.

Alexandra Doughty, Detective Chief Inspector, said: “This is a very sad incident and my thoughts are firmly with the family of this young man.

“The Local Investigation Team, Public Protection Unit and Neighbourhood Policing Team are now working to establish the cause of his death.

“Officers remain at the scene this afternoon and a scene guard is in place whilst enquiries are ongoing.”

Photographs show a large area, near to Queen Street, has been cordoned off by police.

Three police cars, a van and police officers are currently guarding both entrances to the area around Sherborne House and the Halcyon Road car park.
